Things to do
We are based in the beautiful historic city of Lincoln where there is plenty to do.
There are loads of events happening in the City throughout the year, from markets to tours and walks. Take a look at the Visit Lincoln website to see what’s happening https://www.visitlincoln.com/
As well as a bustling high street, we also have the charming Bailgate area which can be reached by walking up the famous Steep Hill. The Bailgate is full of independent antiques, retro and vintage stores, tea shops, pubs and restaurants.
The centre of Lincoln is packed with places to visit in the evening. The Brayford Pool, Highstreet, Steep Hill and Bailgate are full of restaurants, bars and nightclubs. With Lincoln being a relatively small city, once you are in the city centre everything is within a short walk.
The Castle and Cathedral are both absolute must-dos when in Lincoln. Lincoln Cathedral is steeped in history and has stunning rooftop and tower tours you can take, giving you a unique view of our wonderful city. At Lincoln Castle, you can scale the heights of the Medieval Wall Walk, visit the Victorian Prison, and visit an original 1215 Magna Carta.
The great outdoors
Hartsholme Country Park and Swanholme nature reserve are just across the way from here. Hartsholme park is an absolute must for any couples wanting a beautiful peaceful walk, or for families wanting to take the children out to release some pent-up energy.
The Visitor Centre also has exhibitions and interactive features on the wildlife and history of Hartsholme Country Park and neighbouring Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve.
Fancy a spot of Golf? Just a walk away is The Carholme Golf Club it is one of the oldest clubs in Lincolnshire. The 18 hole parkland course is ideally situated well within the city of Lincoln boundaries and is just a Par 5 away from Lincoln City Centre, This is a testing course with water hazards and tree-lined fairways, and has had three new holes built in the last few years. It also has superb views of Lincoln Cathedral and the surrounding area.
Also surrounding Lincoln is Whisby Nature Reserve and many public footpaths, cycle routes!
Best kept secret in Lincoln!!!
Where do I start!? We had a warm champagne welcome from Debbie who showed us the area around the retreat. Only stayed for one night so didn’t get chance to explore, but WHEN we book again looking forward to trying out the walks, local pubs and shopping (a mile walk either side of lodge). The lodge was amazing. Set in peaceful countryside with plenty of garden to relax in. The lodge is beautifully decorated, homily and well equipped with hairdryer, straighteners, iron & ironing board, washer and fully equipped kitchen. It was clean and the beds were super comfortable! The hot tub room was the icing on the cake and the hot tub outside our lodge was the cherry on top!! We went into Lincoln for a comedy night at Lincoln royal theatre, Debbie took up (she is one of the nicest people you could ever meet!). Plenty of places to eat, shop, catch a movie etc. Got a taxi back to lodge only £5.80. Lincoln Retreat really is best kept secret in Lincoln!! If there is more of you the house that sleeps a further 4 opens up so you can walk through sleeping 8 in total, and there is a lovely stand alone cottage sleeping a further 2. What more can I say… other than you have to see it to believe how beautiful it really is <3Rebecca Marsden
This is our 2nd stay in the lodge. We have also stayed on the cottage which is very nice. Debbie has always welcomed us both on arrival. The stay was very relaxing even though we stayed 1 night. The lodge was very clean, tidy and nicely decorated. Love the 8 foot bed. The hot tub was lush. We had a complimentary bottle of bubbly. On the whole our stay was very relaxing. Can’t wait to go again. Keep up the good work you all 🙂Jason & Helen
